About the Event

Anime Vegas is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, Japanese manga and anime (comics and animation), primarily through the presentation of monthly shows and yearly events, such as the Anime Vegas Convention held in Las Vegas, that celebrate art and culture from Japan and Asia.

Returning this year at Anime Vegas is Cosplay Chess Event! For this event, 2 teams of cosplayers will be on a human sized chess board playing out an actual chess game!

Rules and Regulations

1. All live steel, firearms, open flame and wooden paddles, wooden swords are prohibited. Please do not bring these into the convention.

2. All props and prop weapons may be inspected by staff or security at any time and/or confiscated if they do not meet rule #1.

3. Fighting, even mock fighting is prohibited! Offenders will be ejected from the convention WITHOUT refund.

Costume Policy

2. Large or intrusive costumes which may impede traffic flow or cause a safety hazard are prohibited (i.e large wings, long tails, dragging wardrobes or gigantic props). Please save these for the Masquerade Competition.

Sign Policy

2. To have your sign approved, you must submit it to Anime Vegas at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , no later than August 15, 2012. You also must be pre-registered for the event to have your sign approved. Anime Vegas askes for THE EXACT photo of the sign in order to approve it. Attach it to your email. Any sign requests received after August 15, 2012 will not be approved.

3. Anime Vegas will then send you an email of approval or no approval of your sign.

3. If your sign is approved, you will receive an email with your approval. BRING THIS WITH YOU TO PRE-REGISTRATION AND YOUR SIGN THE DAY OF THE EVENT.

4. Your sign will then be stamped on the front right bottom corner with our Anime Vegas one of a kind stamp. This allows the staff to see it is an approved sign. YOU MUST HAVE THE SIGN STAMPED IN THE RIGHT BOTTOM CORNER OR YOU CANNOT DISPLAY YOUR SIGN.

5. Should you alter your sign after it is approved, we will revoke the sign and possibly remove you from the event without a refund.

6. All other signs, hand written/custom offensive shirts, offensive banners, offensive material, offensive hats, or other offensive items attached to your clothes or person is prohibited.

4. ELIGIBILITY: The Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the continental United States, including the District of Columbia. This Sweepstakes is void outside the continental United States, including Rhode Island, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico and wherever prohibited by federal, state, or local law. You must be eighteen (18) years of age or older as of date of entry to enter the Sweepstakes and to be eligible to win. All U.S. federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. 5. HOW TO ENTER: Beginning at 12:00 A.M. EST on July 1, 2009, you may enter via the Internet by logging onto www.igluandhartlycontest.com ("Entry Site") and accurately entering all required information. All entries must be received by 11:59 P.M. EST on September 30, 2009. Limit one entry per individual. The Sponsor is the official time keeper for the Sweepstakes. All entry information and materials become the property of The Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. Except as otherwise contemplated in these Official Rules, and to the extent entrants may otherwise elect at the time of entry, personal information collected in connection with the Sweepstakes will be used in accordance with the online privacy policy available at the Website.

6. PRIZES: Many will enter, only one (1) will win. Each entry received by Spin as set out in Section 4 may be eligible to win the prizes set forth in this Section. One (1) winner will receive one (1) Channel Islands Surfboard. The approximate retail value of the prize package is $1,000.00 USD. No transfer or substitution of Prize is allowed. The Sponsor is not responsible for travel to and from the event. The Prize may not be redeemed for cash and cannot be used in conjunction or combined with any other competition or offer, nor may it be transferred or exchanged in part or in full. The Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the Prize or any portion thereof for one of equal or greater value for any reason at their sole discretion. Admission tickets are non-transferable and will be deemed void if sold, transferred, auctioned or assigned to any third person. In the event the winners or his or her companion engage in behavior that (as determined by The Sponsor in their sole discretion) is obnoxious, threatening, illegal or that is intended to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, The Sponsor reserves the right to terminate the trip or other applicable experience early, in whole or in part, and send the Grand Prize winner and/or his or her travel. 7. ODDS: Many will enter, only one (1) will win. Actual odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

8. WINNER SELECTION: The winners will be determined by random selection conducted by The Sponsor from among all eligible entries on or around October 1, 2009. All results of the selection are final and binding, subject to these Official Rules. In the event a winning entry is discovered to be invalid for any reason whatsoever or the person who submitted the winning entry fails to comply with these Official Rules prior to delivery of the prize, the prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. No more than the advertised number of prizes will be awarded.

9. NOTICE TO WINNERS: Attempts to notify potential winners will be made using the e-mail address or telephone number provided at entry within ten (10) days of sweepstakes end date. The Sponsor is not responsible for e-mail, telephone or other communication problems of any kind. If, despite reasonable efforts, a potential winner does not respond within two (2) days (or such shorter time as exigencies may require) of the first notification attempt, or if the prize or prize notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable to such potential winner, such potential winner will forfeit his or her prize and an alternate winner may be selected.

Acceptance of a prize constitutes winner's permission for The Sponsor to use winner's name, photograph, likeness, voice, biographical information, statements and address (city and state) for advertising or publicity purposes, worldwide, and in all forms of media now known or hereafter developed, in perpetuity, without further compensation.

12. The Sponsor reserves the right to suspend or cancel the Sweepstakes or modify these Official Rules as necessary for any reason or as required by applicable law. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify from the Sweepstakes, and ban from any future promotions, any person it believes to have intentionally violated these Official Rules, or to be acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or to have tampered with any element of the Sweepstakes without notice to the disqualified or banned person.

13. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules or the rights and obligations of entrants and The Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of laws rules or provisions. Any legal claims arising out of or relating to the Sweepstakes or these Official Rules must be brought in the federal or state courts located in California.
